At PHIN, we spoke to some of our team so you can read about the real stories of the people who make our organisation great. This is Andrew's 'My PHIN story...'
Please tell us about your role at PHIN and if it has evolved.
I joined PHIN in January 2023 as a Hospital Relationships Executive and my main role is to help hospitals and independent providers to fulfil their obligations under the CMA Order. This includes engaging with hospitals via virtual Data Clinics, phone calls, email and in person plus dealing with various types of data and a mixture of technical skills. In the time I’ve worked for PHIN, my role has definitely evolved as we bring more and more providers onboard. This has brought new and exciting challenges to both myself and the team.
What attracted you to join PHIN?
I’d worked in the healthcare sector for quite a few years including medical insurance, and in my previous role at Healthcode I was initially taken on to help with the data submissions to PHIN. So when the opportunity came to work directly for PHIN I jumped at the chance. I wanted to use my communication and data skills to help and encourage hospitals fulfil their obligation to the CMA Order whilst in turn working to empower patients to make better-informed choices when choosing private treatment.
Can you share a memorable experience or project that has significantly contributed to your growth within PHIN?
When I first joined PHIN, I was given the task of working through a list of independent sites that hadn’t submitted data (either before or in a long time). This was invaluable in my development within PHIN, as it allowed me to not only get accustomed to my new role, but it allowed me to use the skills I’d built up over many years to help any independent sites where needed as well as update PHIN’s current hospital compliance list which in turn helped the team greatly.
What is the best thing about working at PHIN?
To be honest, I love all aspects of working for PHIN. I have an amazing team which makes it a pleasure starting work each day. When I joined, I was welcomed with open arms and this friendly and approachable culture within PHIN has continued. Also, with the hybrid working policy, it enables me to find the right balance between home and the office.
